Built on 146 acres (59 ha) on the northern end of St. Helen's Island, the La Ronde amusement park first opened its fun fair grounds for the 1967 Expo. Top thrill rides of the Six Flags owned and operated park include the Vol Ultime swinging chairs, the Monstre wooden rollercoaster, the Vampire inverted rollercoaster, the Ednör - L'Attaque suspended looping coaster over Lac des Dauphins and Demon, an extreme ride that twists, twirls, flips upside down and then douses visitors with water jets. For the less daring, there is the Grande Roue ferris wheel, the Grand Carousel merry-go-round, a Nintendo video game center and kiddie rides. Open from mid-May to October, but check the calendar as operating hours and days may vary.
