Given Atlanta's priorities, it is not so hard to believe that it almost let a phone company tear down one of its architectural treasures, but thanks to sufficient public outrage, the Fox continues loud and proud in its orientalist abandon. Originally created as a Shriner's Temple in 1928, the group passed the behemoth off to entertainment mogul William Fox when costs became unwieldy. Today, under its miraculous night-sky roof, the theatre hosts musicals, concerts and comedy shows, though a tour might be the best way to see it.
