Wilton Manors is more than a gayborhood. It is a whole municipality, which has been revitalized and transformed by LGBT residents. With 140 gay couples per 1,000 households, it is considered America's second gayest city after Provincetown, MA and has a long and rich history. Part of Greater Fort Lauderdale, it elected the county's first openly gay official back in the 1980s. Wilton Drive, the mile-long commercial strip, is full of gay- and lesbian-owned businesses of all kinds and full of restaurants and bars.
