Jumbo's Clown Room, a landmark exotic dance bar, is more skilled circus act than burlesque. Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel found "something remarkably wholesome" about the bar, which has been family-owned and -operated since 1970. The draw is cheap booze, pole-dancing by sexy but classically trained dancers who are never completely nude and lap dancing only on request. Courtney Love danced there in the 90s. Most popular on the weekend, the no-cover club attracts a mix of rockers, hipsters, bachelorettes, burlesque fans and tourists.
