Papago Park has stunning sandstone buttes, extensive hiking trails through Sonoran Desert habitat, a fishing lagoon and a golf course. The Desert Botanical Gardens and the Phoenix Zoo reside inside Papago, and the smooth, low-elevation trails can be enjoyed by the whole family. Mountain biking is popular as well. A wide variety of day trip options exist as long as the traveler remembers sunscreen and plenty of water. If you find yourself curious about the white pyramid visible from almost anywhere in the park, take a peek - it's the tomb of Arizona's famous Governor, George Hunt.

The best way to get there is by car. Only 10 minutes from downtown, there is plenty of parking at the park.
