A worthy and often crowded hike just north of Phoenix, Piestewa Peak is part of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and offers high elevation gain and a stunning view of the Valley. In just one mile an elevation gain of over 1,100 feet is achieved, with many beautiful lookouts up to the summit. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and protection from the sun. Visitors should note that although the park closes at 11pm, parking can be difficult because the parking lot gate closes at 7pm.
