Cafe Bialik is decidedly not a tourist spot, so if you feel like rubbing elbows with hip locals, grab a stool and dig into dishes like shakshuka, merguez or the ubiquitous Israeli Breakfast. The setting is a little shabby but it adds to the neighborhood feel, and you can feel welcome to linger over one of the excellent coffee drinks. Check out the weekly music performances that are a cut above your standard three-piece band.

This is a famous restaurant on Bialik and Allenby but it was dirty the last two times I went. You don't want to see dirty floors and tables when you eat. I wouldn't go back.
