Dishoom, imagined in the tradition of the Irani cafés of Bombay, has several London locations, all comfortable dreamy spaces. The decor of the original in Covent Garden evokes a colonial past with whirring ceiling fans, bentwood seating, pearl smoked Indian marble table tops, mirrored columns and vintage posters. Reserve ahead of time, although only available for parties of 6 or more, or expect to wait in a long line. There is quite a selection of grills, curries, dals and paneers but many repeat customers just come for the bacon naan rolls and the bottomless chai.
