Somewhat analogous to the Statue of Liberty, though asserting a Volk rather than welcoming huddled masses, the Bavaria is a giant bronze Leo von Klenze-designed monument to Ludwig I's belief in a Bavaria "comprising all tribes" of the German nation. Visits inside the head are possible by way of a long, winding staircase and the "honorific hall" that wraps around her holds countless busts of prominent Bavarians.
