Founded as a burial ground outside of the city gates for plague victims in the 16th century, and then becoming a cemetery for the dead of the Sendlinger uprising, it finally graduated to the city's main destination for all deceased bodies at the end of the 18th. Because of this, the cemetery is home to the unknown and notable alike, and is an unparalleled opportunity for strolling and tombstone-watching.
