Just to the south of Petra is Anaxos beach, a three-kilometer stretch of coarse sand that has been developed as a tourist attraction with shops, restaurants, bicycle rentals, and mini-markets. It's a very family-friendly spot, with safe swimming and plenty of room to stretch out. The landscape behind has olive groves and pine forests for exploring, and the town itself is also worth a look.
