San Juan de Dios Market, also known as Mercado Libertad, is a standout. A labyrinth of nearly 10 acres (40,000 m²), it is the largest indoor market in Latin America. Built on three levels, it has one floor with crafts and foodstuffs, a second with small restaurants and food stalls and the third with a myriad of imported goods at discounted prices. You can find most everything there, but most of all, go to sample local foods like tortas ahogadas ("drowned" sandwiches). Bargaining is expected.
