Xochimilco, famous for its floating gardens, has a carnival atmosphere every weekend, but since 2004 it has gone all out to revive the pre-Lenten Carnaval, which is celebrated with dancers, traditional bands, floats, masked celebrants, theatrical productions and local foods.
