A favorite day trip from Puerto Vallata, Playa Las Animas de Quimixto is a golden-sand beach, neatly divided into very public and very private by a line of stones. It is only accessible by water taxi (panga). Small restaurants are tucked between mountains and sea. The beach is good for lounging, swimming, snorkeling, diving and kayaking. More adventuresome types can parasail or try out a bouncy banana boat, pulled behind a motor boat. The beachfront Las Animas Adventure Park also offers fun stuff like hanging bridges, zip-lines, rock-climbing and spider webs for --- as they say - kids of all ages. Las Ánimas is the first stop (5-10 minutes) after the panga interchange at Boca de Tomatlán, which can be reached by road.
