The Everglades Hostel in Florida City about 40 miles south of Miami is just what it says: an urban oasis. There's a Mexican restaurant and a bus stop across the street and a Starbuck's a short walk away, but the hostel is a laid-back retreat with a variety of sleeping options ranging from dorm to a small cottage outback as well as camping in the yard. The outdoor area is a jungle paradise with a tree house, gazebo, limestone sinkhole with water fall and hammocks high in the trees. Everglades National Park is nearby. The hostel also offers a full menu of Everglades tours from November to March and a summer paddle tour in August and September.
