This family-friendly Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne is crowded with picnicking locals on weekends but all but deserted during the week when it is a favorite location for filming commercials. The north end of the park has a nature center, trails and water equipment rentals; the south end has a refreshment stand, a children's recreational area and a pristine garden where the Miami zoo used to be. In between is a glorious stretch of sand and a boardwalk for cycling, jogging or strolling. Bring your own picnic or get Cuban takeout at Oasis Sandwich Shop at 19 Harbour Drive. Plenty of parking for a modest fee, but the park can also be reached by public bus.
