South Mountain Park/Preserve has over 51 miles of trails for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. Dobbins Lookout is accessible by vehicle through the main entrance for a spectacular view of the valley. Gila Lookout is a little further and has views of the Gila River Valley. Keep in mind that this is open, undeveloped desert. Take necessary precautions. Rock climbing is also welcome but with care to the petroglyphs and the Preserve.
