American Conservatory Theater is one of several great performance venues in the city, but the productions in their turn-of-the-century building in Union Square are truly master classes in treading the boards. They do more classical works as well, but it's the current fare that shines, and with past productions like Tony Kushner's landmark "Angels in America" under their belt, it's no surprise. Ticket can be as low as $16, but most will be from $30 to $70.
