The small mountain village of Eressos is only separated from its coastal twin by seven miles of road, but entering the ancient town can seem like walking back in time. Surrounded by mulberry trees and scattered with 19th-century stone houses and small fountains, inhabitants tend to wear traditional, homespun garb and many ride donkeys for transport. There's not much to do here other than have a coffee, but it makes for a nice morning bicycle trip from Skala Eressos.
