The town of Mithymna is an hour and a half drive north from Skala Eressos. Its harbor - awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness - is the perfect spot for snorkeling, windsurfing, and paddle boarding. The beach itself is pebbly, but the ocean floor is soft sand and the water is pristine. Flanking the water are a number of tavernas and hotels, should you decide to spend the night. Swimmers should be aware that this area is known for sea urchins.
