Formerly part of the Royal Palace, the Sabatini Gardens were open to the public in 1978. Laid out in a neoclassical style, the gardens were begun in 1933 when palace stables - designed by Francesco Sabatini in the 18th century - were torn down, but work continued into the 1970s. They are accessible through a gate on the west side.
