La Carniceria, which means butcher shop in Spanish, has modernized the traditional parilla with all of the elements of a hip grilled and smoked meats restaurant: blackboard menus, butcher blocks, industrial lighting, a young staff, a mural-size meat locker photo and an open grill behind the bar with sizzling cuts of beef and pork and sausages. There is also solid wine list and a creative cocktail menu including a mean gin and tonic.
