Gay life is all over Buenos Aires, but the gayest is in the Palermo Soho neighborhood, named because of its resemblance to New York's trendy Soho. It's a barrio of little history but plenty of leafy streets, charming cafes, tempting shopping and hopping nightlife like the long-running Sitges dance bar and Amerika, the biggest LGBT nightclub in town. Lesbians have been heading to Bach Bar for over 20 years, making it the oldest gay bar in the city. Palermo Soho boutiques are upscale, housed in former warehouses and elegant old houses. On weekends, visit open-air markets on Plaza Armenia and Plaza Serrano, which is surrounded by restaurants and bars. Part of the larger Palermo barrio, which it divides with Palermo Hollywood, it is centered roughly in the area of Santa Fé, Coronel Diaz, Córdoba and Juan B. Justo Streets.
