On the northeast side of the bay, Tamarindos is a spacious palm-scaped beach where there is plenty of room to play volleyball or soccer (football). Spirited volleyball tournaments are played between Tamarindos and the neighboring Hornos beach. The 701-meter (2,300-foot) stretch has fine sand and gentle waves, which encourage water sports. As one of the oldest and most famous of the beaches, it offers a good assortment of seafood restaurants.
