Long a favorite tourist drag, and so slightly less authentic than other neighborhoods, Fisherman's Wharf is nonetheless a colorful mix of street performers, sea lions, and shopping. There's a large visitor's center that can help make sense of the fray, but it's equally fun to just let the crowds buoy you along and lose yourself in its carnival-like atmosphere.
