Housed in a church dating to the 13th century, the Nikolaj Contemporary Art Center has a small collection of modern art and hosts two community-driven exhibitions a year, one showcasing the work of children, the other highlighting an older artist who has been a significant influence. The church itself is worth a visit for its 90-meter neo-Baroque spire, an indelible part of the Copenhagen skyline. The adjoining restaurant, Maven, is also a nice calm place to have lunch. Admission is 40 DKK, children under 16 free.
