The 65-room Hotel Francés dates from 1610 and was declared a national historic monument in 1981. Undisputedly the oldest hotel in the city, it retains the stone exterior, tiled floors and beamed ceilings of colonial architecture. It is built around a central courtyard with fountain and has a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the historic center. There's mariachi music in the lobby most nights. Rooms have ceiling fans and a traditional Mexican decor.
