Hammocks, hats, colorfully embroidered molas and mugs emblazoned with "Panama Canal" are just a few of the souvenirs you can pick up at artisan markets around Panama City. Casco Viejo has busy markets on Cathedral Square and the promenade atop the old fortress wall. On the east side of town, The Mercado Nacional de ArtesanĂas (The National Artesan Market) is located by the Panama Viejo ruins. The Kuna Cooperative houses various stalls under one roof on Avenida Arnulfo Arias Madrid on the edge of Balboa. Close by, at the beginning of the Amador Causeway, the hangar-like Artisan Market has the most complete selection of souvenirs in dozens of stalls.
