The new Cinta Costera (Coastal Highway) does more than speed autos around Panama Bay. The section running the full length of Avenida Balboa from Paitilla to Casco Viejo borders a beautifully landscaped linear park popular with joggers, cyclists and recreational and social walkers. With pedestrian crossover bridges, children's playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, and gazebos, it has something for everyone and is ground zero for Carnival activities every year. Cinta Costera then arcs around Casco Viejo, skimming over Panama Bay and ending in Balboa just past the new 5,500-seat Maracana soccer stadium.
