Like many spots in Atlanta, the Olympic Park is meant to make Atlanta feel more like a coherent, big-time city but instead remains a wistful memory of what once was. Built for the 1996 Olympics, this in-town park stands today as an expanse of memorial-bricks and still-young trees and the occasional Games kitsch. The fountain in the center, with jets shooting out the shape of the Olympic rings serves as a little unofficial water park for the very young during the summer months.
