The Pacific Dining Car is a 24-hour gourmet restaurant, which began in the 1920s serving $1.50 filet mignon in what was designed to look like a swanky railway dining car. Not much has changed except the prices and the addition of a Santa Monica location. It's still a steak-lover's delight, specializing in prime, aged, corn-fed beef. Between 11 pm and 6 am, there's a considerably less expensive late- night menu that includes lighter fare, breakfast dishes and its signature "Training Day Baseball Steak." The downtown location offers free shuttle service to the Staples Center, Music Center, Disney Concert Hall and Nokia Theater.
