The bold copper facade of the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park is a sore topic for some San Francisco locals, but there are just as many who admire the striking effect. Inside the museum are textiles, an impressive collection of 20th-century American painting--think John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer--a few pieces from Africa and New Guinea, and a more contemporary gallery. Tickets are $10. Open Tues-Sun 9:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.
