Le Train Bleu is the legendary restaurant inside the Gare de Lyon. Built in 1901 and renamed in 1963 to honor the famous overnight train between Paris and Nice, it has an ambiance more fitting a Belle Epoque museum than a railway station's "buffet." Twenty-seven artists, including winners of the Prix de Rome, produced 41 paintings portraying cities and scenery along the route to the Mediterranean. A historic monument since 1972, it was renovated in 2014. Serving classic French gastronomic cuisine, Le Train Bleu is a unique way to start off on a trip or simply enjoy lunch or dinner in a museum setting.
