The beach at Skala Eressos is one of the nicest on the island, and luckily doesn't get too crowded, excepting the high season of August. The water here can be a little cold, but it's not too windy, making swimming comfortable. The Aeolian Resort at one end of the beach offers a number of activities for rent, from paddle boarding to scuba diving, and many people like to challenge themselves to swim out to the big rock that sits in the harbor. Almost all of the gay bars and restaurants are right here on the beach - many offering sun beds and lounge areas - so you're never far from a cold drink or snack.
