London's Chinatown started out in the 18th century when Chinese workers of the East India company settled in the docks at Limehouse and set up businesses to cater to Chinese sailors. Destroyed in the London Blitz, the community migrated to and around Gerrard Street in the West End, now home to modern-day Chinatown and authentic Chinese restaurants and retail stores.
