The only wildlife refuge in the city, Metropolitan Park provides a convenient taste of the jungle only a short walk from Albrook Mall. The nearly 400-acre park has four trails, none of them particularly difficult. One of the few remaining tropical dry forests on the Pacific Coast, it is the only protected forest within a Central American city.  Ancon Expeditions can arrange tours of the 138-foot canopy tower used by Smithsonian Institution researchers. Entry to the park is free.
