Perched on a cliff above the Sunset Strip, Chateau Marmont is where celebrities retreat when they want some privacy - or to indulge in various pleasures. The staff is discrete, and photos are discouraged. Modeled in 1929 on a Loire Valley chateau, it has 63 rooms, cottages and bungalows and luxurious little touches like cashmere throws, maids twice a day, Frette linens on baby cribs and unpacking and packing services. Sophia Coppola used it as a location for "Somewhere" (2010) and Oliver Stone for "The Doors" (1991). It is also remembered as the place where Led Zeppelin rode their motorcycles through the lobby, John Belushi overdosed and Lindsay Lohan lived for a year after rehab.
